Yearbook of 2009

Best Book: I've read some books this year, Mari Jungstedt's books takes place in Gotland so naturally I read them all there. The one I waited for the most was Dan Brown's book of course, the Lost Symbol. I am reading it now. Had it since the day it was released but because of other matters I just couldn't start reading it, knowing I wouldn't be able to do anything but reading it. But the best book of this year has to be Rudy Sarzo's Off The Rail, with a lot of revealing on Ozzy Osbourne and Randy Rhoads.

Best CD: Alright, I've had some time to think about this. The album I've played the most is Constancia 'Lost & Gone' - but the most awaited album was Dare 'Arc Of The Dawn'. Loved both and I will keep playing them for a very long, long time :-) I hope to see both bands live at one point or another!

On The TV: finally gave in. Saw True Blood (click for a YouTube-clip). Fell in love. If you've read this blog you know I am a old school vampire romantic and I love Louis from Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. The new wave of vampire novels has completly passed
me by, until this year. I still haven't read the Vampire Diaries nor the Twilight-saga, but I have seen the show/movies. Not too impressed, these vampires has stupid rules. BUT the exception is True Blood. Interesting fact is that I got one of the Sookie Stackhouse books from my sis
ter some years ago and I didn't really liked it, too cheesy - and I have read more of the books now, and they won't be my first choice of litterature but it's not that bad. I came across the 'Tell Me You Love Me' first season dvds when we were in a great used CD & DVD-store in Princeton, NJ. I saw all 10 episodes over a weekend and they were really good. Food for thought. Thanx to my sister recommending it to me!

Best Concert: John Waite. This was the year when I saw John Waite live. For the very first time. I was impressed. Crazy fanatic, and impressed :-)
But also seeing Deep Purple in Japan! Awesome!

Best Song: Most played song on my iTunes/iPod/iPhone this year still is 'Life' with Brides Of Destruction. But I think the best song this year was the theme song 'Bad Things' by Jace Everett from True Blood.

The Sexiest Man: I really want to say John Waite. Please can I???

Best Moment: Standing on stage watching Journey playing SRF was a highlight. Being in Japan was probably the overall best experience. More than a moment :-)

My family, knowing they'll stand next to me whatever happens.

Worst Moment: Getting fired from my job, or really everything leading up to it.

Awesome Internet Experience: HardRockRadioLive.com - MadIan's show on Fridays!

Best Gig: John Waite. Again.

Drink of the Year: Water

Best Movie: Trying to remember what I have seen this year, hasn't been that many movies. But it's been a Harry Potter and 2 Stieg Larsson as well as the Ice Age 3. Don't think any of them really made it to the top for me. I liked 'It Might Get Loud' as well as 'Julie & Julia' but I haven't seen a film that made everything change or better...

Best Ian Gillan Tune of The Year: Loving On Borrowed Time

The Place of The Year: Japan.

Best Metal Club: The one we went to in Osaka, Crunch if I remember correctly :-)

Nicest Person: My family and friends. Easily counted.

Asshole of 2009: CENSORED

To summarize: Where should I start? This year has been more than strange. But hopefully it's all the beginning of something better.

John Sykes, went missing in action after being fired from Thin Lizzy (probably the only band in the world that could live with him, it is after all the band he's been in the longest). I don't expect him to read this, but I hope he's alright. I'll miss bumping into him every now and again. But I hope he'll turn around and come back, that he'll make another solo album or form a new band. When he quit there was rumours about him joining some 'supergroup' in Germany, but as far as I know that was just a rumour.

Final words: last year I said I owed it to myself to make the changes needed to go somewhere, now I didn't make it happen myself. But here I am. I have all the possibilities to make things happen now.

I am the only one drawing the lines...

Need to remember that.
I am happy now.

Stay tuned.
